Do you want to see my husband in his Birthday suit?

We figured that since D is wearing a suit 2-3 times a week now that he might need a new one. His old one he has worn since his mission. His new suit looks really nice on him. Especially when he is wearing his sunglasses. He still can make me swoon! :)

Happy Birthday Lover!

We have definately had some fun birthday stuff going on around here. Besides my two daughters, we also had my grandpa's birthday, my mom's birthday, and my husband's birthday too.

Here he is with all his girls. They were so excited to help him open his presents.

He recently got a new calling and needed some new things for church. He got a new bag to put his church things in. We had tucked fun things into the pockets....mints to keep his breath fresh, tissues, granola bars for when he has to stay at church for hours and hours, and hand sanitizer for after he shakes all those hands!

See A sitting behind him to the left with a little yellow package? She wanted to give her daddy a present, so she colored him a picture and gave him a candy bar. She is so sweet on her daddy. And her daddy is pretty sweet on her too. She was born at the same time he was going through cancer. He couldn't do much after his surgery and while he was doing chemotherapy so he spent hours and hours just holding her. They have always had a special bond because of it.

M is always asking to take pictures with my camera. She does a pretty good job too. Here is a picture she took of me. (To prove that I was actually at the party!)

Last year I was so burned out by the time my hubby's birthday rolled around that he only got a plate of cookies with a candle in the middle. I thought I would redeem myself this year and make him a fresh apple pie. It was definately worth the time it took to make it. We love pie!

Happy Birthday sweetheart. Here is to another year with the man I love!

Happy 2nd Birthday Little H!!!!

Our baby turned two this last month. Here she is trying to put up two fingers. She was so cute. You could ask her how old she was and she would say "two" and try to show you on her fingers. She never did get her fingers going the right way.

I got her this cute little outfit for her birthday. I made her hair bows to match. I love her hair like this, but it makes her look so much older....it kind of makes me sad.
She was born just before halloween. I have always called her my pumpkin. So I decided to throw her a pumpkin party. I made a pumpkin shaped cake, and homemade pumkin icecream. It was so yummy!

It is really hard to come up with gift ideas for a 4th daughter. We seem to have every possible girl toy already. She got lots of books, and a couple toys. She got a little doodler to take to church. I had ordered her a new shopping cart for her birthday, but I didn't get it ordered soon enough, so it came the week after her birthday. She didn't care that it was late. She has had lots of fun pushing it around with her baby and stuff in it.

When she started opening her presents the first thing she pulled out of the bag was some tissue paper. She said "EWWWW!" It was funny. I guess she didn't want THAT for her birthday.

Happy 9th M!!!

Our little Miss M is not so little any more. She just turned 9.... Deep sigh.....I can't believe she is getting so big. She is still my baby! (Maybe she always will be!) We had fun celebrating her birthday this year. She wanted to have a horse birthday. She loves horses, I mean r...e...a...l...l...y loves horses. She is always begging for us to get one. I have NO idea where we would keep it!!!

For a fun surprise, DH talked to a guy at his work that had horses to see if we could bring M out to ride one. She said to me the day before, "I wish that I could ride a horse." She had no idea that the next day her dream would come true. She got to ride Duchess, a really old, blind in one eye, sweet little horse. She was perfect for M to ride for the first time. All the girls got to ride her, but M definately had the most fun. I didn't have fun at all. Come to find out, I am allergic to horses. By the time we left my eyes were red and my throat was swelling. I didn't even touch the horse! That was just from standing by it. I guess we are definately not getting a horse...ever!
In keeping up with the horse theme, we made a horse cake. I don't know about that pretzel fence. Ideas are always better in my head! We got the little horses at the dollar store. They have been well loved ever since.
She got lots of fun presents too. Most of her ones from us were not a surprise this year. I did surprise her with a Checkers game. I could not possibly count the number of games of checkers that have been played at our house since her birthday.
Her big present this year was a pair of roller blades. She has been wearing mine around for months. She is really good on them too, which is pretty surprising since they are 5 sizes too big for her! We figured she should have some of her own. Now we go roller blading together. It is a fun mommy daughter bonding time.

Happy Birthday M!!!

Trippin' to Tahoe....

We got to go to Lake Tahoe with my brother and his family the last week of September. It was so much fun. It was even worth the 20 hours of torturous driving to get there and back with all the little kids. We had so much fun. One highlight was that the kids got to go to Kid's Club everyday. It was nice to only have 1 child for a little while! They had so much fun making crafts and doing fun things there. We also played LOTS of games with my brother and sister-in-law. They have some fun games and we had lots of fun staying up late playing.

It was a little chilly, so we didn't spend too much time at the beach. The kids (D too!) had fun playing in the sand. We don't get to the beach very often, but D builds a sand castle every time we do.

One day we went for a little hike (not so little for the kids though!) We hiked down to the Vikingsholm "Castle". I wouldn't call it a castle, but it was definately a cool building. The architecture in it was amazing.

We also went to a river to see the Salmon spawning. They had a place that you could go down below the river so you could see inside and watch the fish. It was pretty neat.

We also went on an aerial tram ride up to the top of the mountain. The view from the top was amazing. We did a little hiking as well.

It was such a fun trip. Thanks for letting us come with you big bro.!

Hair Bows...

I saw a little girl once that had these cute little hair bows in her hair. Little H's hair was finally long enough to make them.

Slightly disappointed....

I have wanted to go to a hot air balloon festival for a long time. Usually they have been too far away (especially since you have to be there at sunrise). We finally found one that was a little closer to home. So bright and early (okay, it was really even light yet, but it definately was early) we headed out to see the balloons.

They got off to a late start, but they were getting everything ready. It was fun to watch the balloons grow before our eyes.
There were several different sizes and colors.

Unfortunately, they never got off the ground. They had to call everything off because the wind conditions were too unpredictable. We were all disappointed! So all we had to do was sit around in the sticks.

We didn't get to see the balloons go up, but we got to see 3 sky divers and a lot of buffalo, so I guess the whole trip wasn't wasted!

Hopefully we will be able to catch the balloons again next year.

Ward Campout...

I have gotten a little behind in my postings lately. I wanted to go back and do a post about our ward camp out. They did a cute little Goldilocks and the Three Bears skit. D was Goldilocks in a super curly in your face blonde wig. As you can see in the pictures, the husband's hands were used as the feet, and the wife's hands were used as their hands. We had to feet them pudding at different prompts in the skit. It got a little messy! It was so funny though. I only wish that I could have seen it!
We enjoyed visiting with our ward members, and roasting marshmellows. This was the first time we have camped out (in a tent) for two years. It was hard getting the girls to sleep at first, but they slept pretty good once they did. I wish I did! Our air mattress had a slow leak, so by the time daylight hit I was squashed between my hubby and the baby on a half full mattress. It was a great adventure though!

First day of school 2009

The girls started school yesterday.

A started 1st grade.

M started 3rd grade.
They were so excited to go back to school. The love to dress alike, so they are wearing their matching shirts. I think it is so cute, but I know it won't last forever.
They had a good day yesterday. It was only a half day, so today is their first full day of school. It has been really quiet around here without them. That has been great, but a little sad as well. I didn't realize how much I depended on the older two girls to help with the younger ones. This will be an adjustment for everyone, but I think it will be a great year.

The Last Week of Summer Vacation....

The last week of summer vacation was a busy one, so busy in fact, that I didn't take 1 picture of it.

We finished up our last minute shopping. I got fabric to make the girls lunch bags and skirts. I have two of the lunch bags done, but I will have to post pictures of those on another day. I still have to make the skirts. I think I will start those today.
My DH and I celebrated our 12th anniversary. On that day, DH brought me a dozen roses mixed with sunflowers. It made a beautiful bouquet. We had our real fun that weekend. We dropped the kids off at Grandma and Grandpa B's house for the night. Then DH and I went to the temple and went out to a movie.

After that we went and looked at carpet. Very romantic I know, but it was so much easier doing that without the kids. Then we went out to dinner at the Olive Garden. It is one of our favorites. Then we went back to our house for a little chocolate fondue, a game of Rummikub, and for some unaccounted for time. We had a great time together.

The next day DH had to go to work and I went and got the kids from Grandma and Grandpa's house. Thanks Mom and Dad for watching them so we could have some grown up alone time. We also had a back-to-school party at my house with my family. We had yummy chinese food. We are having leftovers tonight for dinner. I am excited! I am on a total chinese food kick lately.

We also got to have a little manicure/pedicure party with Steph and her girls. Steph brought me the yummiest sandwich ever. Thanks Steph!

All in all, it was a great summer break. I am glad it is over though. The girls were starting to get on each others nerves (and mine!) this last week. It was just time for them to go back. Have fun at school girls!

Summer Vacation Weeks 9 and 10.

I am going to do these two weeks as one post. The weeks blurred together anyway. We had swimming lessons both weeks. It seemed like we just got our swim suits on, went to lessons, came home, washed the girls, washed the towels and suits, and started all over the next day. I am glad they are over!! The girls loved their lessons though. A didn't pass this year so she will have to take the same class again next year. I am not so sure M really passed it either. I think they might have just passed her because they felt bad she was 2 years older than all the other kids in her class.

Poor A probably didn't pass her class because she was sick and had to miss two days. :(
We have also been working like crazy on our basement. Poor DH is such a trooper. That sheetrock business was completely horrible and very messy, but he plugged along until he got it all done.

We finished painting it all last night. PHEW! That was a lot of work. I will have to take some new pictures and post them next week.

M and Dad also got to go to a Daddy Daughter Date Night for Activity Days. They had a nerd night. Dad had fun dressing up for it.

We also went to a ward party, had lunch and a play date with friends, had a primary activity, went to Grandma's house for a crop, and I did an enrichment night. I think last week was the busiest week I have had in a very long time. I was looking forward to this next week being a lot less busy, and then I started my list of all the things that I need to do before school starts. AAAHHHHHH!!! It is going to be another busy week afterall.

10 weeks down, only 1 more to go....oh no!

Summer Vacation Week #8

We have had a busy couple of weeks and I haven't been keeping up on my blog too well. We have something to do on the calender everyday lately. I feel like we are just hopping from one thing to the next, but we have been having a lot of fun.

This week we got to go to a neighborhood party in place of our regular FHE. They had set up a blow up water slide thing that the kids had a great time playing on. We BBQed, and they made homemade icecream. YUM!

We also had some friends over for another Polly Pocket Pool Party.....those Polly's just can't have enough parties you know. I forgot to pull out the camera. It seems like the longer summer goes the less pictures I take. I think I am getting tired!

The girls were starting to get bored of their toys, so we dug around out in the garage and found the Dress-Up tub. They have had so much fun dressing up and dancing around the house.

The girls are still doing their reading to earn their Twillerbee dolls. They are both going through books like crazy! This is M nearing the end of Harry Potter #3.

For our craft day this week we made these little shapes out of "ironing beads" as we call them.

We are getting tons of tomatoes from our garden. We found this little guy out there one day. (Okay, I added the black bean eyes, but that nose really was growning out the side of the tomato...so funny!)

We also got to go to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House with some good friends of ours. I kicked myself as we were driving home because we forgot to take pictures! We had a fun BBQ with them after and had so much fun visiting. We sure miss them and their family.

8 weeks down 3 more to go!
